Conference Submission Topics
Suggested topics include, but are not limited to, serious, sustained discussion of the following:
- The motorcycle or riding in film, literature, art and music
- Motorcycle racing
- Motorcycle history
- The role of place/environment in motorcycling
- Motorcycling and issues of safety and risk
- Motorcycle technology/design
- Motorcycling and race, class, ethnicity, sexuality or gender
- Motorcycle travel/tourism
- Motorcycle rights and politics
- The commodification of motorcycles, motorcycling and/or motorcyclists
- Motorcycle clothing/fashion
- Advertising/marketing of motorcycles, gear and motorcycle culture
- Media representations of motorcycling
- Other literary, anthropological, geographical, historical, sociological, political, economic/business or psychological perspectives of motorcycling culture

Conference Guidelines
All contributions to the International Journal of Motorcycle Studies Conference should be forwarded to the conference organizers electronically. (See “Submission Instructions” below.)
Submissions will be forwarded to a minimum of two conference organizers. If your submission is accepted you will need to register for the conference via our PayPal site (to be released in early April 2026).
Submission Instructions
To submit an presentation for IJMS, please send a 150-word abstract of the presentation using the form below. Include a three- to four-sentence biography including, if appropriate, relevant publications and/or professional activities.
General Format of the Conference and Registration Information:
Each panelist has 20 minutes to present their paper, project, talk. Panelists will be given a 5 minute, a 2 minute, and a “wrap it up” warning. Most panels will consist of 3-4 panelists. Access to a projector and computer for powerpoint and slide presentations will be available. All accepted presenters are expected to register for the conference in one of four categories: 1) Presenter (Full-time employed/ associated with an institution- $170), 2) Independent Scholar ($140), 3)Graduate Student ($75) or 4) Virtual/Online Presenter ($80).
Registration will be available at the end of April 2026.
More information about the keynote speakers and the program will be released in April and May 2026.
